An enhanced user experience
At Race Furniture, we were invited to tender for the replacement of lecture seating at the Bishop Aukland Hospital. The existing seating, approximately 25 years old, had deteriorated in both aesthetics and comfort, prompting the need for an upgrade.
Initially, the client’s brief was to replace the old seating on a like-for-like basis. However, during our survey, we identified an opportunity to enhance the overall user experience. We proposed to the client that the lecture room could accommodate slightly wider chairs, a deviation from the original plan. The wider seating would contribute to the increased comfort of our proposed Scholar chairs.
Upon approval of our proposal, we proceeded to remove the old seating and install the new Scholar chairs. The installation was strategically carried out with the new chairs placed at 550mm seat centres, providing an additional 50mm of space for each sitting position compared to the old seating arrangement.
The Scholar chairs were meticulously designed and manufactured to not only meet the client’s specific requirements but also to address the unique challenges posed by the sloped floor in the lecture room. This attention to detail ensured that the new seating not only met but exceeded the comfort and aesthetic expectations of the client and end-users.
The client was delighted with the outcome, appreciating the thoughtful approach to design, installation, and the added value brought to the project.
