…Race were delighted to be appointed as the seating supplier for the refurbishment of Britain’s most complete Georgian playhouse, the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond, North Yorkshire. The primary aim of this project was to be sympathetic to the original qualities and features of the Georgian three-tier, courtyard-style auditorium while providing a more comfortable and stylish seat.
The Solution
This project was the first to benefit from a brand-new partnership with visualisation specialist, Preevue. A 3D model was created of the venue to which Race Furniture then added 3D seat renders in to. As a result, the client was able to see exactly what their new venue and seating would look like and make instant decisions while working remotely – a huge benefit considering this project was completed during the national lockdown in 2020.
The Outcome
The refurbishment of this 3-tiered auditorium, which was renowned for it’s uncomfortable seating and problematic views, was a huge success. Opening in 2021, the new seating has received high praise from audiences, key stakeholders, and press.
