Jagex Auditorium…

…is a video game developer and publisher headquartered in Cambridge. World renowned for their RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. These titles are collectively known as the world’s largest free-to-play multiplayer online role-playing games.

Brief

An auditorium had been built using stepped tiering, but the visitors were sat on timber decks or in some areas on scatter cushions. With a high crown height, narrow tread space and fixed steps to the sides the options for improvements were limited. The client was looking for more comfort, more luxury and of course seating that would stand the test of time.

Bespoke Solution

After several intense visits and lot of head scratching, a bespoke bench seat and back rest was agreed on. To give greater comfort these were fitted to every other row. Given the risers were high we added plinths to the decks in front. These were finished to match the existing, polished plywood tops, laminated side panels all secured with secret fixings.

The depth of the seats and angle of the back were critical to the end comfort. After a false start on the back angle we were able to finalise on the perfect result.

Finished using bright orange from Camira Fabrics Synergy range. The benches really fit in with the look and feel of the space.
