Ludlow Assembly Rooms…
…south Shropshire’s premier arts venue, were looking to replace the seating in their redesigned auditorium as part of a £3.5 million refurbishment. A true community space, they wanted to modernise the building and seating while preserving the historic fabric of the building and creating a venue that would serve the community for many years.
The Solution
Working closely with project lead and contractors, Pave Aways Building Contractors, Race developed a custom Tempest for the redesigned auditorium. 290 seats, with variants including removable seats, leather tops, and footrails, were upholstered in a stunning Camira Main Line Flax, with some featuring a dark brown leather top, and finished with show wood arms and backs.
The Outcome
With the project ongoing for two years due to Covid and various other problems that arose, it was great to see it ready to open as restrictions started easing in the UK. Revellers and communtiy figures were thrilled with how the transformation of the space had created a modern and impressive facility, that truly sealed it’s title as a ‘cultural jewel’ of South Shropshire.
The project even won first place in an awards scheme recognising some of the top property projects in the Midlands. The award was for Fit-out / Refurbishment of the Year in the West Midlands Property Awards in Birmingham in 2021.
