BA3

The BA3… a post-industrial look balanced by an elegant silhouette

Ernest Race’s first design for Race Furniture. Through Ernest Race and his partner Noel Jordan’s engineering skill, the BA3 became one of the world’s first mass-produced chairs. At a time of limited resources, the manufacturing process was revolutionary and used salvaged materials, including recast aluminium from redundant aircraft and upholstery from recycled RAF lightweight cotton duck fabric.

This iconic chair’s enduring appeal is illustrated by its presence in restaurants, workplaces, and homes worldwide still today.

he BA3 was Ernest Race’s first design for Race Furniture.
